1週間ぶりのレッスンです。
体調を崩してしまい、ずっとレッスンを休んでいました。
自己学習もレッスンもせずに時間を置いてしまうと、レッスンするのが億劫になってしまいますね。
えいやっと気を引き締めなおして予約しました。

今日のスモールトークは、結構いろいろ話せました。
日本ではいまGWだということ、米軍基地祭にいったこと etc...

基地祭では軍人さんと話す機会がたくさんあったのですが、、、うまく話す事が出来なくて。
というか質問が出来ないんですよね。iTalkのレッスンでも、DMEは基本的に答える練習だし、フリートークでも質問された事に答えるか、自分から日常の事を話すとかが多いので、自分から考えて質問するというのが極端に弱いのです。「疑問文が弱い」「質問力がない」というのは認識してたけど、レッスン外で、リアルに外人さんと会話する機会をもってみて、改めて強烈に認識させられました。

基地の中は、マックや Bank of America があったり、リサイクルショップや教会なんかがあって、バス停や標識も英語で書いてあって、プチアメリカ旅行って感じでした。そしてアメリカンフードの大雑把な味付け^^;

ちなみに中には EXCHANGE counter があって、支払はドルです。
ボーリング場があったのですが、1ゲーム 1ドル7セント、rental shoes 1ドルでした。
(最近ボーリングなんてしないので、あんまり価格差がわからないけど)

iTalkでDMEをはじめてから、リアルで英会話をする機会は初めてでしたが、英語力のなさに凹んだものの楽しい経験でした。国内でこういう経験が出来るのはいいですよね、近くに基地があったら、もっとたくさん遊びにいくのにな~

How about your little sister, she studies English too?

She couldn't speak well.

How about your husband?

He can speak English better than me.

But he is shy. I don't see him. Always hide. I never see him.

どこか出かけたいところだけど仕事に行かないといけない。
ミーティングが3つもある!

というのも、連休を控えて、打ち合わせしないといけない事がたくさんあるのです。

みんなどれくらい休みがあるの?と聞かれたので、

It depends on the company.

という事で、GWの話をしました。
先生に直してもらいながらだけど、いいたい事がいえたかな。
It depends on... なんて、DME で習わなかったら、出てこなかった表現だよね!

・Part2 vocabulary
5. meadow
YOUR ANSWER:真ん中 / SHOULD BE: 牧草地

YOUR ANSWER: 最近 / SHOULD BE: 時折

#5は完全に聞き間違い。meadow は、聞き取りにくいし、発音も難しかったのよね。
#20はテストの時、意味を忘れちゃって、適当に書いたんだった^^;

・Part4 grammar
間違った単語は、ふたつ。
crime stories: 推理小説
→ Crime の適切な訳が思い浮かばなくて、犯罪の小説と書いたら、バツだった。

Politician: 政治家 → これは完全に忘れてました。

あと、sweets を、そのまま「スイーツ」と訳したら、「キャンディー」と訂正されてました。
辞書で調べると、「飴」以外にも「甘いもの」という意味があるし、もはや日本語かなと思うのですが。
まぁ、ちゃんと意味が取れているからいいかな?

さて、テストのREVIEWが終わったところで、BOOK6の最初からREVIEW開始です!

BOOK5 の時と同様に1コマで Exam やりきりました!
でも、前回より焦らずに落ち着いて出来た気がします。
そして最後に5分くらい余って、英語部分の答えあわせが出来ました。

パート1のYes,No 問題では、ひとつ間違え。
Ceilingは天井なので、答えはNOなのに、焦って聞き間違えちゃった。

IS THE CEILING BELOW OUR FEET?

パート3のDictationでは、スペルミス3つ。
でも、2回リピートだけで、それ以上繰り返してもらう事なく聞き取りが出来ました。
スペルミスだけで、抜けてる単語もなかったのです!ちょっとびっくり!

パート2と4は、英語→日本語へ訳す問題だったので、答え合わせは次回。
帰宅して、録音を聞いてみたら、2~3個間違いがあった・・・。

でも、全体的には BOOK5のExamより出来がよかったかも!
明日からは、BOOK6のREVIEWに入ります。

今朝はパンプキンパイを食べました。
そしたら、先生は、今朝カスタードパイを食べたそうです。

今日でBOOK6終わるかな?と思ったのですが、最後のLesson139に思いのほか手こずりまして、2センテンス残してタイムアップ (>_<) 残念だけど、早く終わらせるのが目的じゃないんだから、しっかり練習しないとね!

Cai先生は、レッスンの中で、パートごとにREVIEWをしてくれて、しかもREVIEWのときはランダムにフレーズを出してきたり、質問を広げたりするので、単なるREVIEWじゃないから、とてもよい練習になります。明るくて、話していて楽しいし、とても褒め上手なので、とても楽しいレッスンです。

先生とふたりで考えたものの、答えがわからず仕舞いだったのです。
レッスン後に、もう一度考えたら、クイズの答えがわかったので、それを伝えました。

暗号の解き方を英語で説明して、そのルールを使って暗号を解くと・・・
こんなメッセージだったよ!
昨日の私たちの解き方ではダメだったんだよーと。

ちょっと難しかったので、英文を用意していたのですが、話しながら質問されたので、その場で考えながら話して・・・伝わったみたいでよかったです ^^

暗号を解くのは、レッスンと関係ないしな・・・と思ったけど、それを題材にフリートークが出来た事がよかったです。

そんなんで時間を使ってしまい、今日は新しいパートに進まず、昨日のREVIEWと、新出単語を使っての疑問文を作る練習をしました。あとは、DMEのフレーズから話題を広げてのフリートーク。

DMEでは疑問文を作る機会が少ないし、一度レッスンした話題なので、そこからフリートークに広げていくレッスンも、たまにはこういうのもいいなぁと思いました。
